FreeConferenceCall.com aims to raise $10,000 for The Children Today Organization; all proceeds go to enriching the lives of homeless children in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif. – June 12, 2010 – FreeConferenceCall.com, the leading provider of free collaborative communication solutions, is sponsoring Children Today’s 2nd Annual 5/10K Run/Walk Race, scheduled for Saturday, June 12th. FreeConferenceCall.com aims to raise at least $10,000 for Children Today through donations and sponsorships. In addition, FreeConferenceCall.com will match every dollar raised, up to $10,000. All proceeds from this event will go towards quality childcare and educational programs for the one thousand plus children experiencing homelessness in the Long Beach community.
Children Today provides emergency and long-term care options for homeless children and children of homeless families. For families experiencing homelessness, free childcare allows parents to search for a job. Success stories prove that the availability of the Children Today services work to end the cycle of homelessness and help to put families back on their feet.
“It’s difficult to accept that there are so many homeless children and families. FreeConferenceCall.com is working hard to give back to our community, and I know of no better cause than our children,” said David Erickson, Founder of FreeConferenceCall.com. “We have chosen to support the Children Today organization because it is made up of people who truly care about the wellbeing of others, especially the children, and their success is evident in our community.”
Josh Lowenthal, President of the Board of Directors for Children Today, said, “Having a company like FreeConferenceCall.com sponsor us not only brings resources and exposure, but tremendous credibility. FreeConferenceCall.com was the title sponsor last year. We are grateful for their continued support. It is more than money that FreeConferenceCall.com provides. Their employees, families, and customers get involved in the fund-raising and participate in the race. They are examples for others in the community, and their enthusiasm is contagious. Dave Erickson and his team have proved again that they are dedicated to our cause and understand very clearly that every dollar raised means we can serve more homeless children.”
Last year, 387 Long Beach residents, FreeConferenceCall.com friends and family, and running enthusiasts took to the streets in support of children experiencing homelessness. You are invited to join FreeConferenceCall.com in being part of the solution. The goal of Children Today is to increase the safety, stability and confidence of children facing homelessness and provide quality early care and education programs absolutely free of charge. To this end, Children Today operates two free, licensed child development and day care centers in Long Beach, California: Play House West and Play House North; both centers serve homeless children between the ages of six weeks and six years of age, one focusing on emergency care, the other on long term child care.
